Amyris is a sesquiterpene, up to 70% sesquiterpene alcohols. Researched examples show that the sesquiterpene alcohols are antiallergenic, stimulating to the liver and glands. They are anti-inflammatory and reduce congestion in veins and the lymph system. They are moderately antimicrobial.

Scent is similar to Sandalwood and may be called West Indian Sandalwood.
Lymphatic and venous decongestant. Sooths coughs, reduces muscle pain and swelling. Used mainly as a perfume fixative.
