Benzoin is not a 'liquid' oil. It is rather thick and gluey. It needs to be heated and diluted into an alcohol, base oil or another essential oil to be worked with.

Benzoin itself is released by the tree when the bark is cut.
Warm, sweet, caramel and vanilla like scent. Generally used as an extract in alcohol. Benzoin is antibacterial, antioxidant and therefore preservative. Inhaled as an expectorant and for the heart and circulation. Used externally as an antiseptic for chapped and inflamed skin.
