It could be said that essential oils are a by-product of the production of hydrosols. Many plant compounds are water soluble and remain suspended in the water that is produced by steam distillation. This water is fragrant and theraputic.

This hydrosol is nice and soothing for injured and inflamed skin. Think first sunburn of the season. Digestive tonic, detox the liver. Circulatory system stimulant. Antihistamine, anti-inflammatory and expectorant for the respiratory system. I get this hydrosol from a local grower. I request they do not add alcohol before it is sold to me. Ask around, hard to get it without alcohol.

Frankincense essential oil and hydrosol are from the congealed exudae from the damaged tree bark. The trees are incised and the resin collected.
