It could be said that essential oils are a by-product of the production of hydrosols. Many plant compounds are water soluble and remain suspended in the water that is produced by steam distillation. This water is fragrant and theraputic.
Artemesia Arboresence Hydrosol
This hydrosol is nice and soothing for injured and inflamed skin. Think first sunburn of the season. Digestive tonic, detox the liver. Circulatory system stimulant. Antihistamine, anti-inflammatory and expectorant for the respiratory system.
I get this hydrosol from a local grower. I request they do not add alcohol before it is sold to me. Ask around, hard to get it without alcohol.

This Eco-Cert hydrosol is from the bark. It has a deeper and more Cinnamon sharpness than the leaf, more intense but not 'hot'. Very stimulating for the mind. It tastes great and is a perfect base for oral preparations.

Frankincense Hydrosol
Strongly scented. Could be diluted with distilled water if you'd like... The smell was described by someone else as 'expansive'. That's a good description, it is expansive in energy work and to the lungs. Dry, woody, slightly peppery smell.
Frankincense essential oil and hydrosol are from the congealed exudae from the damaged tree bark. The trees are incised and the resin collected. This is most likely the gum referred to in ancient texts.
Frankincense hydrosol is used topically on aging skin to reduce wrinkles. Mist on the face as a toner for skin. Gives a fine textured, silky feeling. It is a diuretic and drying without leaving the skin feeling dry and tight. I expect it to be effective in an acne treatment as well.
Frankincense hydrosol taken internally ( from one half to one tablespoon 3 to 6 times a day, depending on you and what you are treating - plenty of water too ) gives a feeling of expansion, deeper breathing and open airways. It is used to dry up mucus in the respiratory system. Something to remember this flu season.
It can be used as a gargle, as a mouth rinse for infection in the gums or on lung points during a acupressure or jin shin treatment.
Taking a few drops orally before meditation, ritual or energy healing deepens the experience.

Yarrow Hydrosol
Organically grown and purchased directly from the distiller in France.
It improves digestion of fatty food, seems to stimulate the liver. May increase bile production and is helpful in easing heartburn. Antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory, use as a compress post-partum, on inflamed skin or to clean an abrasion and help stop bleeding. Use to achieve a mental calm when doing spiritual or meditative work.
It has a full smell with green and clean with a heaviness that is sour and slightly fetid. I don't dislike it, but I can see that some will. The scent left on the skin is only part of the whole smell and is not better. The scent is not floral. Could benefit from being blended with something lovely and complimentary . The taste is ummm... like dirt, like dirty celery. Very much like plant juice from something fresh out of the garden. The taste is not improved by dilution.
